About me

Hello, I'm Deborah Royce.

I offer counselling for individuals aged 11 and above, either for a set number of sessions or on an open-ended basis. I am a qualified and experienced therapist with over 8 years of professional experience in a variety of settings, including education, the voluntary sector, and private practice.

Who I work with

I work with children, young people, and adults, offering a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space to explore life’s challenges. My specialist experience includes working with young people aged 11–25 within the LGBTQ+ community, providing inclusive counselling that is affirming and informed by specialist training in gender diversity and sexuality.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their professional and ethical framework. I hold an advanced DBS check, updated in May 2025, giving you peace of mind about the professional standards I uphold.
My counselling experience
Over the years, I have supported clients in a range of counselling settings, including:
  • Talkzone
Providing free counselling for children and young people aged 11-25.
  • St Barnabas Hospice
Supporting bereaved individuals, terminally ill patients, and those with lifelong conditions, as well as helping to facilitate a bereavement support group.
  • Someone Cares Charity
Supporting adult survivors of childhood abuse.
  • Tyne Metropolitan College
Providing counselling to counselling students for a range of issues.
  • Barnardo’s Orchard Mosaic Project
Counselling children who have been abused, are at risk of abuse, or are displaying sexualised behaviours.
This breadth of experience has given me the privilege of working with clients from diverse backgrounds, each with unique life stories and needs.
